Seniors Yoga Classes

There’s no need to let an aging body stop you from starting or practicing yoga, in fact a regular yoga practice can be just the thing to help you maintain mobility, vitality and joyousness as the years tick by and health challenges start to flair up more frequently.

At Relax Yoga we welcome senior students into all our classes.  But if you are looking for yoga for elderly beginners or are concerned about limitations to your mobility there are 3 classes on the Relax Yoga Schedule that we recommend for you, and you can join in at our Chermside West Yoga Studio.

They are:

Beginners Yoga

Every Monday at 10:30am

with Tes

Dru Yoga for Women

Every Thursday at 9am

with Jane

Dru Yoga for Women, easy for niggling injuries

Dru Yoga for Women

Every Thursday at 10:30am

with Jane

Each of these classes offers a slow, gentle flow with a small community of students including fellow seniors.

Lessons are structured to mobilise the spine and all joints using simple movements, breathing, mindfulness and relaxation techniques.  Options are always offered to ensure everyone has a version of the movement or posture to practice safely and with confidence.

New students with no prior yoga experience can join in at any time.

The teachers for these classes are highly trained and experienced yoga professionals.

Meet your teachers:

Tes Steele

Tes comes from a Medical Science Background and is a Registered Yoga Therapist with a passion harnessing the power of the breath in making yoga accessible to everyone.  She especially loves teaching yoga to people who (for what ever reason) think they can’t do yoga.  Beginners Yoga is her specialty and in her class thre are often has as many stiff blokes as there are women.

You can join in her “Beginners Yoga” class on Mondays at 10:30am

Dru Yoga for Women, Seniors Yoga, Yoga for the Elderly.

Jane Esslemont

Jane is a Registered Occupational Therapist with a passion for neuroscience and somatic therapy that influences her yoga teaching. She is also a Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher who is exceptionally skilled at working with students who experience mental and physical challenges.  Her classes are a safe space for all women.  She sees every class as an opportunity to be of service and to be in flow.

Join in her “Dru Yoga for Women” class on Thursdays at 9:00am or at 10:30am

Tes and Jane have been learning, practicing, and teaching yoga for many years and each carry the experience and skills necessary to present yoga safely and joyously to beautiful souls who may be living in bodies that don’t quite function as they used to.
